What Is Play Therapy?
Play Therapy is a form of counseling that is especially useful with young children who may have difficulty understanding their feelings or putting their feelings into words.
How Will It Help My Child?
Play therapy can help your child express their thoughts and feelings. It can help them role-play situations that might be stressful for them and develop positive responses.
What is The Process Like?
The first step in the process comes when you or someone close to your child determines that therapy might be appropriate to help your child deal with trauma or stress, school or learning challenges, or inappropriate behavior. I will speak with you and evaluate your child to determine his/her needs. We will discuss therapy and payment options as well as expected results.

Testimonials
“Patty has been working with our 12 year old grandson for almost a year. When he first came to live with us, he was very depressed and anxious about lots of things. He really enjoys coming to see Patty. He has improved a lot with her help. Through her Love and Logic tapes, I have learned when to back away.”
“Our 6 year old son was having some anxious attachment issues, and Patty has helped him enormously. I wasn’t too familiar with play-based therapy, but I’m a believer now! It is perfectly suited to his personality. His level of emotional outbursts have decreased dramitically.”
“Ms. Patty has been a rock for our family. She is there when things get bad at home and helps us through our troubles. She is very kind hearted and wonderful. I look forwarde to continuing our relationship.”
“Patty is wonderful with our 12 year old daughter! she loves talking with Patty and feels much better after each conversation. Patty is helping her learn to thrive in the face of anxiety.”
“Both of our girls look forward to their time with Patty and her approach is different for each one. One enjoys the animals and holding and playing with them while she and Patty talk. The other shares artwork and enjoys discussions. As a result, angry outbursts have decreased as have full-blown melt-downs. Recovery time is shorter when they use calming techniques and take a moment to think through things. They appreciate the “safe” space they have with Patty where they can talk things through and choose to keep it confidential.”
“Patty has been working with both our 11 year old daughter and our six year old son. She built rapport with them right away. We have been impressed how intentional she is to address issues in the middle of the play. She obviously loves kids and she has a lot of experience as a therapist and school counselor. We recommend her.”
